Brazil President Jair Messias Bolsonaro to be India’s Republic Day 2020 chief guest.

  • Bolsonaro will be the chief guest at India’s 71st Republic Day Parade on January 26.
  • It will be the third time that a Brazilian President will be the chief guest at the Republic Day.
  • India and Brazil are members of several multilateral fora, such as BRICS, IBSA, G-20 and G-4.
  • Bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to $8.2 billion in 2018-19, which included $3.8 billion worth of Indian exports to Brazil and $4.4 billion as imports by India.

 

Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar for disaster management anounced.

  • The Disaster Mitigation and Management Centre in Uttarakhand and former IPS officer K.M. Singh awarded Subhash Chandra Bose Aapda Prabandhan Puraskar for disaster management.

Ganga Sagar Mela in West Bengal

  • Ganga Sagar Snan also known as Ganga Sagar Mela is the largest fair celebrated in the state of West Bengal on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. India tested its nuclear capable K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM).
