Chief minister M KStalin relaunched the Varumun Kappom (preventive healthcare) scheme as Kalaignarin Varumun Kappom at a function at Vazhapadi here on Wednesday. He said 1,250 medicalcampswould be conducted under the scheme in the state in a year.

The main objective of the scheme, he said, was to prevent diseases among the people and ensure their Health. The scheme will benefit the people in all villages, town panchayats, municipalities and corporations in the state. The chief minister has increased the number of camps under the scheme to 1,250 from his earlier announcement of 1,000 to cover the maximum number of Population. At the medical camps, doctors will screen one for all sorts of health issues. He said the camps would address dental, ENT, stomach, intestine, high blood pressure, diphtheria, bone and joint, kidney, heart, and psychiatric related issues. Special focus will be given on paediatric issues, pregnant womens issues and womens health issues in general.

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate CIPET: Institute of Petrochemicals Technology, Jaipur, and lay the foundation stone of four new medical colleges in Rajasthan on 30 September via video-conferencing.

Sri Lanka banned the import of organic fertilisers produced in China after state <a href="https://exam.pscnotes.com/Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture executives identified harmful bacteria for the second time.

Sri Lanka imports 99,000 metric tonnes of organic fertiliser for 63 million dollars from China’s Qingdao Seawin Biotech Group Co Ltd.

On September 17, agriculture experts in Sri Lanka found that China manufactured organic fertilisers that contained a microorganism identified as ‘Erwinia’.

The Agriculture Ministry also confirmed this later, but the Minister alleged that the samples that came to Sri Lanka could have been tampered with.
