Saint-Gobain to invest Rs 6,000 cr to Rs 8,000 crore by CY 2025

French glass major Saint-Gobain will invest 6,000 to 8,000 crore for expansion of Indian operations in the next two years, as the global glass and building materials manufacturer is targeting revenue at 36,000 crore from India by CY2032. The company generated an annual revenue of 12,300 crore in CY2022 and aims at 40% YoY Growth.

It comes in the backdrop of India emerging as the third largest profitable market after the US and France for Saint-Gobain, which has operations in 75 countries.

With 60 manufacturing lines in 30 locations spread over nine states fromRajasthantoTamil Nadu, 14% of the turnover from the Indian operations is generated through exports. While 50% of the turnover is from glass related businesses, 30% is contributed by gypsum and construction chemicals and the rest by abrasives, ceramics and life sciences.

TheMumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP)is a Rs 12,721-crore initiative by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to link Marine Drive to theBandra-Worli Sea Link. The most significant feature of the project is the construction ofIndias first undersea tunnel, which is set to open by November 2023. The 2.07-kilometer twin tunnels run 17-20 meters below sea level, connecting Girgaon to Priyadarshini Park via the Arabian Sea, Girgaon Chowpatty, and Malabar Hill.

The construction of the twin tunnels involved cutting through complex geological strata using a massive Chinese Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and a team of 35 men. The TBM, named Mavala, is the largest ever used in India, weighing over 1,700 tonnes and standing about 12 meters tall. It was manufactured by the China RAILWAY Construction Heavy Company Ltd (CRCHI) and was assembled and launched a year ago.

The NAMO Medical Education and Research Institute has been built at a cost of 203 crore, and the foundation stone for the project was laid in January 2019. Senator Nikil Savaltweeted that the state ofPennsylvaniain theUnited Stateshas declared Diwali, the Hindu festival, as a national holiday. The legislation to make Diwali an official state holiday was introduced by StateSenators Greg RothmanandNikil Savalin February of this year.

The bill was passed unanimously by the Senate. According to My Twin Tiers, there are almost 200,000 South Asian residents in Pennsylvania, many of whom celebrate Diwali as a time for gathering and reflection. Senator Saval expressed gratitude to Senator Rothman for the opportunity to introduce this bill and welcomed all Pennsylvanians who celebrate Diwali.
