Lessons learnt during last year’s lockdown are seemingly helping large industries in Tamil Nadu handle production during the second wave of the infection.

However, smaller businesses, especially MSMEs who are yet to come out of debts of the first wave, feel any further downturn will create a huge dent in their balance sheets.

From vaccinating senior workers, arranging transportation, sourcing raw materials, providing accommodation near factory premises and re-aligning operations, big companies are confident of overcoming the current tide.

 

INTERNATIONAL

Global Energy Transition Index World Economic Forum

The World Economic Forum released the Global Energy Transition Index. The index used to be organized in collaboration with Accenture.

The ten international locations that topped the index were from the Northern and Western parts of Europe. Sweden ranked first in the document accompanied via Norway and Denmark.

India ranked 87th in the index. China was ranked 68th on the index.

Around 92 out of 115 countries performed higher in their combination score. This indicates an advantageous direction in international strength transition.

The World Economic Forum is an international agency for private and public cooperation. The headquarters of WEF is positioned in Switzerland.

World Intellectual Property Day is on 26th April

Each and Every year, World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on April 26. Intellectual property day is celebrated to highlight the importance of Intellectual Property. The day is celebrated through the World International Property and a number of different global organisations.

The day was set up through the World Intellectual Property Organisation in 2000. Its ambitions to enlarge recognition on how copyright, patents, designs and trademarks affect each day life.

Government Extends Vivad se Vishwas Scheme Deadline Till 30th June

The authorities have as soon as again extended the cut-off date for making payment below the direct tax dispute contract scheme ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ via two months until June 30, 2021, to supply alleviation to the taxpayers facing hardships amid the pandemic. The closing date was extended for the first time from March 31, 2020, to June 30, 2020, observed via December 31, 2020, and then again till March 31, 2021.

 

The ‘Vivad Se Vishwas’ scheme used to be introduced in the Union Budget 2020, as per which a taxpayer would be required to pay only the amount of the disputed taxes and will get a complete waiver of activity and penalty provided he will pay by means of 31st March 2020.

 

Those who avail of this scheme after 31st March 2020 will have to pay a 10% extra penalty and pastime amount.

The scheme presents for the contract of disputed tax, interest, penalty or fees in relation to an evaluation or reassessment order on the fee of 100 % of the disputed tax and 25 % of the disputed penalty or pastime or fee.

 

Appointment of Retired Judges as Ad-Hoc Judges in HC

The Supreme Court cleared the way for the appointment of retired judges as ad-hoc judges in High Courts (HCs) below Article 224A of the Constitution to deal with the mounting backlog of cases. Around fifty-seven lakh cases in HCs are pending. This will be relevant for two to three years to clear the backlog.

SVAMITVA E-Property Cards Distributed

PM Narendra Modi launched the distribution of E-Property Cards underneath the Svamitva (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) Scheme. Around 4.09 lakh property cards have been distributed. The cards were allotted on the side-lines of National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations.

The Svamitva Scheme was once launched in 2020 on National Panchayati Raj day.

The scheme pursuits to provide integrated property validation solution for rural India.

Under the scheme, the mapping is to be accomplished in a phase-wise manner between 2020 and 2024.

The scheme will map the land parcels the usage of drone technology. And, a Continuously Operating Reference Station will be used for demarcation.

The scheme is presently applicable only in the states of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

The Indian government has allotted Rs 79.65 crores for the scheme.
